3. Hosting and server log files
Our websites and the web areas used for our contact and newsletter functions are hosted by STRATO.

According to STRATO, the IP address or hostname is anonymised in the log files made available to hosting customers. These log files are retained by STRATO for a limited period.

4. Age verification and local browser storage
As beerbattls is intended for adults and contains content relating to alcoholic beverages, an age confirmation is displayed when you first access the website.
If you confirm that you are at least 18 years old, this information is stored locally in your browser using your browser’s Local Storage.
Only technical timestamps relating to the confirmation and its expiry are stored. The age confirmation remains valid for 30 days.
The information stored through this mechanism is not automatically transmitted to us and is not used for advertising, analytics or profiling.
After 30 days, the stored confirmation expires and you will be asked to confirm your age again.
The storage is used exclusively to operate the age gate and to prevent you from having to confirm your age again on every individual page view.
Legal basis for storage on your device: Section 25(2) No. 2 of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG).

If you contact us using our contact form, we process the information you provide.

The processing is based exclusively on your consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR.
You may withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future, for example by using an unsubscribe option contained in our newsletter or by contacting:
Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
After you unsubscribe, we will no longer use your data to send the newsletter. Statutory retention and documentation obligations remain unaffected.

7. YouTube
Our website provides a tutorial video hosted on YouTube.
For users in the European Economic Area, the service provider is generally:

We use the YouTube player in its Privacy Enhanced Mode through the youtube-nocookie.com domain.
The YouTube player is loaded only after you have consented to the display of the external content or deliberately activated the video.
When the YouTube player is loaded, a connection to Google’s servers is established. Google may process information including:

- browser and device information
- operating system
- date and time of access
- information about the page you are visiting
- information about your interaction with the video
If you are signed in to a Google or YouTube account at the same time, Google may be able to associate your use of the video with your account.
Google may also process data outside the European Union or European Economic Area, in particular in the United States. According to Google, Google LLC participates in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and may also use other appropriate safeguards for international data transfers.
YouTube is integrated on the basis of your consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and, insofar as information is stored on or accessed from your device, Section 25(1) TDDDG.
Your consent is voluntary and may be withdrawn with effect for the future.

8. External links and platforms
Our website contains links to external services, including in particular:

- Google Play
- Kickstarter, where applicable in the future
These are generally ordinary external links. No content from these platforms is embedded solely as a result of the link being displayed.
When you click such a link, you leave our website and access the respective external provider directly. From that point onwards, the privacy policy of the respective provider applies.
We do not have full control over the data subsequently processed by these external providers.
9. No website analytics or advertising tracking
We currently do not use services such as Google Analytics, Meta Pixel or comparable tracking and profiling systems on our main website to analyse visitor behaviour or provide personalised advertising.
If we introduce such services in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly and, where required, we will obtain your consent before activating them.
10. Recipients of personal data
Personal data is disclosed to external recipients only where this is necessary to provide our website or process your request, where you have given your consent, or where disclosure is required by law.
Possible recipients include in particular:

12. Retention periods
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the respective purpose of processing.
In particular:
- The locally stored age confirmation expires after 30 days.
- Contact enquiries are deleted once they have been fully processed unless statutory retention obligations or legitimate reasons require further storage.
- Newsletter data is generally processed until you withdraw your consent or unsubscribe.
- Statutory retention periods remain unaffected.
- Data processed by external providers such as Google is additionally subject to the respective provider’s retention policies.
